Crispin Hoult

Managing Director

After completing a Geomatics degree and PhD (Large-Scales Spatial Data Management) at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Crispin moved to Scotland to initially support, and then manage, IME UK Ltd delivering innovative desktop- and web- based mapping systems. He was also a founding director of the first UK online property information site

Following a merger with 1Spatial, he became technical lead on award winning projects such as with the Property Registration Authority Ireland and the Scottish Government e-Planning initiatives. In 2011 Crispin returned to small business to set-up Linknode Ltd: integrating mobile geospatial with 3D gaming technologies for visualisation and augmented reality for the environmental, renewables, security, museums and culture & heritage sectors.

When not at work he can be found organising and competing in the Scottish Mountain Bike Orienteering series and other events.


George Banfill

Technical Director

After completing a Computer Science degree at the University of Manchester, George’s first role was working for Edina Software, a small software consultancy in Edinburgh. Whilst at Edina Software, George was involved with the Scottish Road Transport Database for the Scottish Government using statistical models to calculate journey time and congestion on Scotland’s trunk roads.

George moved to the ESPC in Edinburgh to work as technical lead for the redesign of their public website and member portal which are used to support the ESPC and MoveMachine brands.

In 2009 he relocated to Leeds and worked as a senior developer for Gould Tech Solutions providing workflow driven solutions to the Translation Services industry. During this role, he became interested in machine translation and the possibilities it offers the translation industry.

George joined Linknode in 2011 to design an architecture and framework to allow rapid cross platform application development capable of supporting 90% of the new smartphone and tablets market. When not working he is an avid mountain biker, and has competed in several endurance races. George also enjoys sailing and is a qualified dingy instructor.


Abigail Brownlee

Client Management

Abi began work in the digital world after graduating from Napier University in 2005 with a degree in Network Computing. She worked with IME UK Ltd as a Project Manager and, after merging with 1Spatial, managed the project delivery of the Scottish Governments ePlanning programmes before promotion to Support Manager which brought new international challenges in handling corporate compliance with personnel in four continents.

Abi joined Linknode in 2012 to support the development of corporate image and communications, website and graphics, client management, policy across networks and assessing bids and proposals. She brings her experience in many aspects of business – including Project Planning, Management and Delivery, Account and Client Management, Customer Support contractual requirements and management systems, Contract Negotiation, Digital Marketing and Event Management.

When not working she enjoys drawing, painting, playing squash and bagging Munro’s.
